2023-2024 Academic Year General Information About Foreign Languages Department:

ENGLISH PREPARATORY CLASS PROGRAM:

• Our department runs the Compulsory and Optional English Preparatory Class Program at our University.

• In order for the students who enroll in departments with Compulsory English Preparatory Class to be exempt from the Compulsory English Preparatory Class and directly start their education in the 1st year, a Language Proficiency Exam is carried out in two stages on a date that is specified in the Kütahya Dumlupınar University School of Foreign Languages Academic Calendar of the 2023 / 2024 Academic Year.

• Students who do not take the Language Proficiency Exam or fail the exam will study in Compulsory English Preparatory Class Program in the 2023 / 2024 Academic Year.

• Students can be exempted from the 1st Stage of the Language Proficiency exam or the Compulsory English Preparatory Class Program if they meet the necessary conditions in accordance with the Kütahya Dumlupınar University Directive on Exemption from Foreign Language Preparatory Class and from Compulsory Foreign Language Courses.

Departments with Compulsory English Preparatory Class Program:

• Faculty of Arts and Sciences: English Language and Literature

• Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences: Business Administration in English

• School of Foreign Languages: English Translation and Interpretation

Optional English Preparatory Class Program:

• If students who have enrolled to any academic units of our university other than the Departments with Compulsory English Preparatory Class in the 2023 / 2024 Academic Year apply to study in the Kütahya Dumlupınar University Optional English Preparatory Class Program, they can study in English Preparatory Class within the quota during the 2023 / 2024 Academic Year according to the Kütahya Dumlupınar University Voluntary Prep Class Student Placement Regulations.

• Optional English Preparatory Class application results are announced on our website at ydyo.dpu.edu.tr.

Fees:

• For students who are going to study in the Compulsory and Optional English Preparatory Class, a Foreign Language Placement Exam is administered before the classes begin so that students can receive an education that is suitable to their level, and according to the results of this exam, the proficiency level of the students, course hours, classes and books that need to be purchased are determined.

• The cost of the books that are needed to be purchased in the English Preparatory Class Program can be considered as 1000-1500 TL.

• In addition, if there are students who will study in the English Preparatory Program that are required to pay tuition fee, they must pay their tuition fees for the Fall and Spring Semesters between the dates they are required to pay the tuition fee.

Campus and Building:

• The lessons of the English Preparatory Class Program are held in the School of Foreign Languages building on the Evliya Çelebi Campus of Kütahya Dumlupınar University.

GENERAL INFORMATION ABOUT FOREIGN LANGUAGE COURSES:

• Our department conducts Foreign Language I (English I), Foreign Language II (English II) and Vocational Foreign Language courses taught in the academic units of our University.

•In order for the students who have enrolled in the academic units of our university and will start their 1 st year in the 2023 / 2024 Academic Year to be exempt from or successful in the Foreign Language I (English I) and Foreign Language II (English II) courses taught in their academic units, they need to take Kütahya Dumlupınar University School of Foreign Languages Exemption Exam for Foreign Language I-II Courses (English), which is held on the date specified in the Academic Calendar. Announcements about the exemption exam (exam date, place, application form, etc.) are announced on our website ydyo.dpu.edu.tr.

• Foreign Language I (English I), Foreign Language II (English II) and Vocational Foreign Language courses taught in the academic units of our university are carried out in the buildings and classrooms that the related academic units determine.
