CLASSES & INSTRUCTION
Our School, with its proactive and dedicated academic staff, offers English Preparatory Program students an intensive foreign language instruction lasting two semesters. For this purpose, courses are conducted with a focus on reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills, using an integrated approach that combines these skills.
Students enrolled in departments with a compulsory English Preparatory Program— Faculty of Arts and Sciences (English Language and Literature, Translation and Interpretation) and Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences (Business Administration in English) — take the two-stage Foreign Language Proficiency Exam at the beginning of the academic year. Students who score at least 65 points and succeed in this exam are exempt from the compulsory English Preparatory Program and continue directly in their departments/programs.
Students who apply to study in the Optional English Preparatory Program and are accepted within the quota according to the Kütahya Dumlupınar University Optional Preparatory Class Student Placement Directive, together with those who fail the Foreign Language Proficiency Exam and are required to attend the Compulsory English Preparatory Program, take the Foreign Language Placement Exam before classes begin. Based on the exam results, they start their education in the English Preparatory Program at the level (A1, A2, B1, B1, B1+, B2) appropriate to their proficiency.
Courses are conducted in well-equipped classrooms designed for language learning, ensuring rich interaction between instructors and students, as well as among students themselves.
The English Preparatory Program lasts one academic year and consists of four quarters.
- Students who attend at least 80% of classes in each quarter are eligible to take the End-of-Level Exam at the end of the quarter.
- Students who score at least 65 points in the assessment exams and the End-of-Level exam continue their studies at the next level. Those who fail repeat the same level.
To take the End-of-Year Proficiency Exam, students must successfully complete the B1+ level. To take the Summer Proficiency Exam, students must successfully complete the B1 level.
All students who fail either the Optional or Compulsory English Preparatory Program may take the September Proficiency Exam.
Students who successfully complete the B2 level during the academic year are considered successful in the English Preparatory Program.
